  • Research summary

    As of March 5, 2023, around 1.9 million individuals (2.9% of the population) in the UK are living with long COVID. Long COVID has emerged as a significant concern for public health. The widespread effects of the emerging long COVID phenomenon on millions of individuals worldwide highlight the importance of various studies and their implications for clinical practices and healthcare systems. This study will investigate patient satisfaction and desired improvements in long COVID care, by providing valuable insights into individuals’ experiences and perspectives about long COVID care. This study finding will be significant as it will enhance our knowledge base and is vital for devising effective interventions and healthcare policies that cater to the requirements of this patient population. This study will answer the following research questions;
    i.What is the level of patient satisfaction with the care received for long COVID management?
    ii.What specific aspects of long COVID care are most effective in managing individuals’ symptoms?
    iii.How effective are different home care support and self-management strategies employed by individuals with long COVID?
    iv.What are the most desired improvements in long COVID care from the patient’s perspective?
    v.How does engagement in a regular exercise routine relate to managing symptoms and satisfaction with long COVID care?
    This study is an hospital-based cross-sectional study design and a Google form questionnaire. Questionnaire links will be emailed to study participants. The questionnaire will be sent via postal services with a self-returned envelope for those without an email.
    The study includes long-term COVID patients over 18 managed at Croydon University Hospital in London from January 2022 to March 2024, representing a diverse population within the Croydon London Borough Council, England. This diversity ensures that the study's findings will be comprehensive and representative of the entire long COVID patient population.
    This study will take place from November 1st, 2024, to January 31st 2025.
