Data collection arrangements
We will collect post-mortem brain and spinal cord tissue for neuroscience research. Donors can self-consent or agree through a consultee. Tissue will be collected at local hospital sites across the U.K and transfered to the Brain Bank by specialist courier.
Tissue will be preserved by both fixing and freezinf techniques.
Full Neuropathological assessment and diagnosis will be carried out before tissue is made available for researchers to request access to.Research programme
The brain bank supports of broad range of basic neuroscience research alongside research into Neurodegenerative and Psychiatric disease, both within the UK and worldwide.
