Research summary
This study will explore the meaning and experiences of frailty, with frail older people, family carers, and health professionals. The current context of Covid-19 risk, impacts of Covid-19 control measures, and 'vulnerability' will also be explored. This is a two-phase study (and our research ethics and governance application is for both phases of the study).
PHASE 1: will include interviews with frail older people and family carers to explore what frailty means to them, and their experiences of frailty.
PHASE 2: will build on the qualitative data from phase one, and involve collaboration between the research team, frail older people and health care professionals, to co-design frailty interventions in order to make transferable recommendations for practice.
This study will improve knowledge and understanding of what frailty means and how it is experienced, besides providing recommendations for improvement to clinical and health practices.
