Data collection arrangements
There is great potential for routinely collected data from Registries to inform clinical care and identify opportunities for improvement of care. This study will use data collected for clinical purposes in the Trusts' Stroke Registry and TIA Registry. Data will be collected by clinicians and database personnel as part of the routine data collection process, which is monitored by clinical governance mechanisms within the Trust.
Data is stored in Trust held servers in compliance with relevant regulations (including information governance, patient confidentiality, corporate legal & server policy).
Research programme
Evaluation of routinely collected data has the potential to improve delivery of clinical care - and this project will enable service changes and clinical improvements for patients with suspected TIA and stroke. Potential benefits include: evaluation and optimisation of referral patterns; identification of ethnic variation in diagnosis & treatment; improved understanding of the epidemiology of stroke and TIA patients; quantification of outcomes (and peer comparison with other centres), identification of high risk features that could enable targetted interventions etc.
