  • Research summary

Little is known about the pattern and severity of musculoskeletal pain after COVID-19 and their association with pre-existing musculoskeletal conditions. This cross-sectional observational study aims to investigate the pattern and severity of musculoskeletal pain after COVID-19, characterise this pain and examine its relationship to pre-existing conditions, and impact on quality-of-life. Patients currently under the care of, or referred to, Leeds Community Healthcare Trust with symptoms of Long COVID will be invited to take part. Those who wish to participate will be asked to provide informed consent and to complete a questionnaire (including eligibility, personal details, ethnicity, employment, activity and work related health, Adapted LCH Post COVID-19 Rehabilitation questionnaire, Adapted Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire, Pain detect, Musculoskeletal health questionnaire, and EQ-5D-5L) to report on their musculoskeletal problems, pain, and quality of life. Approximately 200-300 participants will be recruited over 12 months. Detailed descriptive analysis of the cohort to assess the distribution of various clinical and demographic variables will be evaluated.
