Research summary
Isolation of PBMCs from healthy donors will be undertaken to assess the immunoactivity of xenoantigens present on the surface of xenografts used in congenital heart disease. 10mL of healthy donor blood will be taken from the participant upon enrolment into the study and the buffy coat isolated. In vitro assays will then be conducted to assess the inflammatory response to xenografts in culture. All patient samples will be destroyed after the assay has been completed.
