Research summary
To compare autopsy derived colorectal primary tumours to their metastases and hepatocellular primary tumours to their metastases using immunohistochemistry, DNA sequencing and conventional histological stains on morphology to determine whether they show important difference that may affect treatment with targeted therapies. The tissue will be taken from volunteer donors recruited from the GIFT Cadaveric Research Tissue Service who are consented for generic ethically approved research either from the community, the LTHT or oncology outpatient clinics. A second part of the project will be comparing the findings from the autopsy cases to resected liver metastases and primary liver cancers (ethical approval is already in place for the use of this tissue).
