Research summary
This study will investigate how the immune system changes in individual patients due to cancer and during treatment for cancer. We know that the immune system can affect how a cancer grows, and targeting the immune system holds promise for treatment of cancer. To do this effectively, we need to understand how the immune system changes during the course of a cancer and the treatments we currently use.
Eligible participants would include adults with cancer/a previous cancer under followup at Nottingham University Hospitals. The study will consist of small (10-20ml) serial blood samples taken from participants during their followup for/treatment of cancer. Permission will also be sought to use tumour samples previously removed and removed during the course of the study as part of routine clinical care. Other than blood sampling, participants will not need to undergo any additional procedures. We will use healthy volunteers who will provide blood samples to act as a control group.REC name
