Research summary
This study will explore whether an online autism assessment tool (the Oxford Virtual Autism Assessment Tool (OVAAT)) is able to provide information that assists in the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The OVAAT will be compared to an existing evidence-based tool used in the assessment of ASD (the ADOS-2) during NHS (CAMHS) autism assessments. The information gathered from the tool will also be compared to information gathered from parents/carers during neurodevelopmental histories about diagnostic features of ASD. Finally, the study will examine whether the OVAAT can distinguish between young people with ASD and young people without ASD, other neurodevelopmental conditions or mental health conditions.
