Research summary
The 2019 novel Coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19 is a pathogenic virus that targets the human respiratory system. COVID-19 is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans however there have been previous outbreaks of different versions of the beta coronavirus including severe acute respiratory (SARS-CoV) from 2002 to 2003 and the most recent Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV) which was first identified in 2012. In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the urgent research study is essential to obtain the most beneficial information from the study on blood from patients with Covid 19 infection who recovered from the condition or dealing with consequence of the disease. death rate and their health condition. This study aims to investigate whether the genetics could make an influence on the symptoms. For this reason we will interrogate the human genome from patients who had Covid 19 with morbidities and patients with Covid 19 positive with mild/moderate symptoms compared to healthy controls.
