Research summary
Pulse synchronous pulsatile tinnitus (PSPT) is the perception of hearing ones own heartbeat. It is usually sub-categorised in a number of ways in order to help the clinical management of the condition. The majority of patients have subjective PSPT that is only be heard by the patient. It can be classified by its site of origin as arterial, arteriovenous or venous. PSPT can be the primary symptom or secondary to a more dominant symptom, for example headache associated with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) or conductive hearing loss.\nThis study will investigate whether an interventional response standard of care devised by Cambridge University Hospitals in a group of PSPT patients proves benefitial or potentially treats their overall symptoms, and creates the gold SOC nationwide. \n
