Research summary
As research is being published comparing ultrasound acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) elastography with liver biopsy for assessing liver problems there is the potential that this non-invasive test may be used more and more and potentially reduce the need for liver biopsy. There is now an established ultrasound pathway in Hull in which we perform ARFI elastography at the time of the ultrasound scan for certain patients. What we need to know is how reproducable the ARFI elastography measurements are meaning if two different people scanned the same patient would the results be similar but also if the same person scanned you twice would they get similar results. We also need to know if anything affects this.
