Research summary
Stopping mothers who are pregnant from smoking will improve the health of both mother and fetus. Smoking cessation is notoriously hard in pregnant mothers as those mothers who can quit do so shortly after finding themselves pregnant.
We have demonstrated that we can change the smoking behaviour of mothers of young children by providing levels of indoor air quality (IAQ). We wish to extend our previous work into pregnant mothers.
The primary aim of the present study is to determine whether it is feasible to recruit pregnant mothers and to make measurements of IAQ. Secondary aims are to determine whether the feedback is associated with reduced IAQ concentrations after one month and setting a quit date with smoking cessation services.
