Research summary
Salivary gland cancers represent a rare group of diseases for which effective treatment options at the time of disease recurrence, or when disease has spread to other parts of the body, are lacking and therefore further research is needed. In this trial, we aim to better describe the genes that make up these diseases and look for any abnormal genes. We hope to better understand cancer behaviour and possibly identify new drugs for treatment.
The study will recruit patients who have had a histologically proven diagnosis of salivary gland cancer who have archival tumour tissue available. Tumour tissue collected as part of routine care will be analysed in the study and stored within the IReC -Bio biobank (IRAS 307885). Information from medical records about medical and surgical histories will be collected.
The study will be conducted in multiple centres in the UK over the course of two years.REC name
