Research summary
Anterior knee pain is a common problem after knee replacements. Due to the aim of making all knees to be aligned in neutral alignment (which often is not their native alignment), the bone resected from the distal lateral condyle of the femur is often smaller than the implant thickness. This may be one of the reasons for anterior knee pain. However, this cannot be visualised in the post-operative x-rays. We want to explore the proportion and the magnitude of the mismatch between the implant thickness and bone resection in PSI TKR patients where the 3 D planning is done pre-operatively based on MRI images.
