Data collection arrangements
Patients attending Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust for a procedure will be approached to ask for their consent to donate samples to the Tissue Bank. Some patients attending clinics in St Marks Hospital (part of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust) and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust will also be approached to consent for biological sample donation. Consent is taken either by fully trained consenting staff or clinical staff with duty of care.
Samples are stored at HTA registered locations on Imperial College Healthcare Trusts constituent hospitals (Hammersmith, Charing Cross, St Mary's), Imperial College London's South Kensington and White City campuses, St Marks hospital a Chelsea and Westminster hospital.
Research programme
The Imperial College Healthcare Tissue Bank supports academic research on the disorders or function of the human body from within Imperial College and its associated NHS Trusts, as well as external academic, private and public sector researchers worldwide. All researchers must submit a formal project application for access to materials via the Imperial College Healthcare Tissue Bank's Tissue Management Committee who will review the proposal.
