Data collection arrangements
We seek to renew our approval to analyse routine data from the IMPARTS (Integrating Mental and Physical healthcare: Research Training and Services) web-based screening system established at King’s Health Partners to integrate mental and physical healthcare. Patients attending selected clinics are invited by staff to complete a questionnaire on an ipad and their responses then inform the clinical consultation. To date, IMPARTS has been implemented in 51 clinics across Guy's, St Thomas's and King's College Hospitals. We have created a pseudonymised research database consisting of patients’ questionnaire responses and other clinical data within the hospital’s electronic patient records. The database enables research, audit and evaluation of clinical services. Personal identifiable information are excluded from the database. It is technically possible to deanonymise records in the database to identify suitable recruits for research studies, but only if the patient has given explicit consent to be contacted via the screening questionnaire.
Research programme
The IMPARTS Research Database is available to King's Health Partners researchers wishing to address questions important to patients' mental and physical health. The database addresses two of King’s Health Partners’ key strategic goals: (1) improved integration of mental and physical healthcare, and (2) improved utilisation of NHS records for research purposes.
