Research summary
This research intends to use semi-structured interviews to identify themes which will help the team to create a questionnaire. Themes are common issues which arise when a person discusses a particular topic. This research is concerned with impacts associated with a condition called oral lichen planus (OLP) and its treatment. Oral lichen planus is a condition which occurs inside the mouth, causing inflamed patches of skin called lesions. Some patients experience a lot of lesions, some only a few, with varying degrees of pain and discomfort. There are currently a number of treatments available for OLP, each can suit different patients for different reasons. Occasionally, the severity of this condition requires that patients make adjustments to the types of food they each in order to avoid causing further irritation. This study will recruit patients who have had their diagnosis of OLP confirmed by biopsy. The resulting questionnaire will be a patient reported outcome measure which could be used in clinics to attempt to provide data on the patient experience of this disease.
