  • Research summary

Why? The aim of IMPACT PAD is to examine the safety and feasibility of intraprocedural flow, pressure and resistance rate changes to help predict the success of a peripheral endovascular intervention.\n\nWhat? Peripheral arterial disease. \n\nWho? Patients > 18 years of age, diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease, scheduled for endovascular treatment of lower limb peripheral arterial disease\n\nWhere? Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.\n\nHow? 18 months is the study’s duration. The patients will undergo the procedure for which they are scheduled for (angioplasty/stenting in a peripheral artery). In addition, before and after angioplasty or stenting, arterial physiology indices will be measured using a proprietary pressure wire and microcatheter by a dedicated research team.
