Research summary
Over the course of a lifetime our immune system declines, leaving us more vulnerable to infection and less able to benefit from protections such as vaccination. This research project aims to determine why our white blood cells, our immune cells, become less functional as we age. The research will also examine whether it is possible to prevent or alter adverse changes as a mechanism for preserving health in older age.
