Research summary
The University of Manchester has a new lab based blood test which could be helpful for looking at immunity to coronaviruses. The researchers believe this could contribute valuable COVID-19 knowledge to the scientific community.
The researchers aim to take blood samples from people and use this test to analyse them. In this way, they will see if people who have had such a virus have developed immunity to it.
We will be inviting people who have already taken part in the BRAGGSS or National Repository Healthy Volunteer Study to take part, providing they have consented to be contacted for future research.
The study is funded by the Manchester Biomedical Research Centre and a Centre Grant from Versus Arthritis.
We will approach potential participants will be asked to consent to the study and to complete a questionnaire to ascertain whether they have had COVID-19 symptoms or not. Blood samples will then be taken from these participants and compared with blood samples we have already received. If a participant later develops symptoms, we will ask them to complete another questionnaire and provide a second set of blood samples.
