Research summary
Lay summary of study results: The trial findings revealed that the transfer of patients without ST elevation to a cardiac arrest centre following resuscitated cardiac arrest within this healthcare setting, did not reduce mortality compared to those delivered to the geographically closest emergency department. There was also no difference in the functional status and quality of life of participants between treatment groups. The results indicate that these resources within cardiac arrest centres could be better allocated for other critical emergency work that requires high dependency beds and specialist input.
