Research summary
The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, is a worldwide emergency and of a scale not seen since the 1918 influenza pandemic. Although, fever and respiratory symptoms are well recognized as the main clinical manifestation, neurological presentations are increasingly being reported, including encephalopathy, peripheral neuropathy, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and cerebrovascular disease. The cause and incidence of different neurological conditions and the relationship to COVID-19, whether causal or incidental, remains unknown. The role of imaging in diagnosing and monitoring COVID-19 neurological presentations is also unclear. [Study relying on COPI notice]
