Research summary
IBM Watson Health is currently developing a retrospective software tool to identify potential findings in chest x-ray and chest/abdomen CT images. The software is called Clinical Review 3.0 which uses artificial intelligence algorithms to collect information from the identified images. The investigational software is near commercial release and the research project will be used to assess current performance and provide quantitative findings.
No physical interaction will occur between the subject and the investigational software during the course of the research study. No clinical assessment, interpretation or radiologist decision will be made as part of, or resulting from, this research. This research will not effect the patient clinical management. No clinical data or analysis from this research will be written back to the investigational site’s image repository (Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)), Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR), Radiology Information System (RIS) or any other site clinical systems. The clinician will make their own clinical determinations based upon information gathered through their own diagnostics, the same as they would outside the research setting.
It is anticipated that the data analysis from this study will be used to inform future development aspects of Clinical Review 3.0, future investigations of the algorithm, and possible clinical impact of Clinical Review 3.0.
