Data collection arrangements
Potential donors will be identified when participants attend the hVIVO generic screening process, during which they are asked if they wish to participate in the hVIVO Research Tissue Bank (RTB) and become donors. Donors will be consented with a RTB specific consent form.
Samples will be collected at hVIVO facilities and be stored at a hVIVO HTA Licensed facility. The types of samples that might be collected and stored in the hVIVO Research Tissue Bank (RTB) includes, but is not limited to, blood, nasal swabs, throat swabs, saliva, urine, faeces, sweat, tears, rectal swabs, perianal swabs, perivaginal swabs, ear swabs, and nails.
All samples and donor information will be identified only by their unique participant identification number. Any donor information that is stored in the hVIVO RTB will contain the identifier only, with the exception of the stored signed informed consent form; donor names or any information which would make the donor identifiable will not be stored within the hVIVO RTB or distributed to third-party researchers. In accordance with the UK Data Protection Act (2018), hVIVO will hold all personal information separately.
Research programme
Research communities which the hVIVO Research Tissue Bank (RTB) will support health-related research that is in the public interest. All requests for research from different types of research organisations, will be reviewed by an internal Access and Governance Committee within hVIVO. Samples and data will only be shared if the research question relates to a project that could be of scientific benefit. Donor information and/or samples stored in the hVIVO RTB may be used for future research including but not limited to, in the following areas of biomedicine: • Pre-clinical drug discovery and drug development • Diagnostics development and validation (including new ways to screen for or diagnose disease) • Biomarkers discovery and validation • Translational medicine • In vitro model development Donor information and/or samples stored in the hVIVO RTB may also be used: o For teaching and educational purposes o For academic or commercial collaboration
