Research summary
Psoriasis is a systemic, chronic, inflammatory disease manifesting predominantly in the skin. Patients exhibit a broad range of symptons that vary in severity. In order to better understand the disease, and develop new therapies for treatment, researchers need to access biological samples from patients with psoriasis, namely, in this case, peripheral blood. The main aim of the proposed blood draw study is the expression characterisation of specific T lymphocyte (white blood cell) surface antigens in fresh peripheral blood of moderate-severe/severe Psoriasis patients. Additionally, serum derived from this patient blood will be analysed for the presence of soluble factors potentially involved in disease progression, by various in vitro assays.
