Research summary
This study will utilise the technology of the ‘EyeSi simulator’, a virtual reality cataract surgery simulator, to help establish the importance of stereopsis in carrying out microsurgical tasks.
Participants from the University of Dundee Medical School will have their stereopsis (3 dimensional vision) assessed by a trained and qualified orthoptist. The participants will then be requested to carry out a number of tasks using on the virtual reality 'eye-si' surgical simulator.
Their performance will be assessed and compared with other participants to better understand the importance of stereopsis in carrying out such tasks.
