  • Research summary

This feasibility study will investigate the acceptability of using a rating of perceived exertion (RPE) scale for amputees attending a physical activity class as part of their routine clinical care. We want to find out if it can be used to predict exercise intensity for the purpose of a future, larger project. The study population will be made up of amputee patients attending a physical activity class, for their routine clinical care. The study assessments will take place in week 1 and 12 of the patients attendance at the activity class. They will be asked to complete a self report score alongside 2 questionnaires and also have to wear a heart rate monitor for the duration of that exercise session.
