Research summary
This protocol describes a pilot study of a “navigator”-based intervention for people who have self-harmed in the context of financial, employment, benefits, housing and associated problems arising from financial difficulties. Study participants will be recruited from people who present to Bristol Royal Infirmary’s Accident & Emergency Department following self-harm, and receive a psychosocial assessment. Our aim is to pilot the recruitment method, randomisation and outcome measures as well as obtain the necessary information to inform the conduct of a full randomised trial of this intervention should the pilot prove successful, (e.g. acceptability to users, recruitment rates and sample size estimation). Twenty people will be recruited to the study.
