Research summary
Atrial fibrillation is very common affecting 1-2% of the population and is an important cause of morbidity. No single simple test is available to determine whether it will be possible to mainatin normal sinus rhythm in patients with AF. This pilot study will aim to look at whether recording an 80 lead ECG from patients with AF relates to information about the health of the atrium (chamber of the heart where AF occurs), and therby form the basis for a larger study to determine whether this information can be used to predict which patients will respond to treatments to attempt to keep the heart in normal rhythm.
