Research summary
Plasma devices have been used for cosmetic/aesthetic use in dermatology as well as a treatment for wound care. The device that Fourth State Medicine has developed, is being tested initially in cosmetic/aesthetic use, as its application is beleived to cover a wider range of treatments and a quicker recovery time that other methods of treatment.
The rationale for this study is to tune the energy delivered to the surface of the skin in order to maximise the efficacy of the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles and skin resurfacing. This will allow the clinician to evaluate the depth of trauma and profile prior to a clinical trials phase. These energy levels will then be fixed by 4SM. This study will use tissue donated by patients undergoing abdominoplasty to test this device. The fine depth of control of the energy delivered to the surface is a significant advantage of the Fourth State Medicine technology over exisitng systems and procedures.REC name
