The aim is to invite 400 patients with a diagnosis of lung cancer, to achieve 200 patients consenting to complete a life style questionnaire, document lung function tests and to donate blood and tissue samples for storage with a view to enable future studies from this established biobank.
Patients will have been referred to The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust or referral centre (Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) with a diagnosis of lung cancer at any stage. If eligible, these patients will be consented to give samples for processing and storage.
The blood samples will be processed by the RM biobank staff and stored in the GOLF research tissue bank along with archival tissue. The biobank is located on RM premises, maintained and run by the RM biobank staff.
