Research summary
1). Service evaluation: We run one of the largest fetal neurology service in the UK. It is unique that is a genuinely joined fetal medicine, neurology and occasionally clinical genetic and other specialties (such as pediatric urology and general surgery). However, parental views of counselling and parental post-natal experiences have not been systematically assessed. This is an important area of unmet demand.
Service evaluation will therefore include parental view of the counselling they received to evaluate its accuracy compared to post natal findings, of the quality and punctuality of the perceived care.
2). Correlation of fetal diagnosis with post-natal outcomes: at the moment, the natural history of several recognized neurological abnormalities diagnosed in fetal life is described by systematic reviews biased by population variation, small sample sizes, and short term follow-ups. We therefore aim to give extensive information regarding the natural history of these conditions with long term outcomes through childhood.REC name
