Research summary
Lupus is a disease in which gene differences affect how the cells in your blood work. In order to gain more detailed understanding of these genes influence the biological processes in these cells, we will collect 300 ml blood from 100 lupus patients and 100 healthy individuals for laboratory studies. Using these blood samples, we will purify immune cells and then study how gene differences affect these cells. The likelihood of repeated requests on any one individual is small, but requests for any one participant to provide an additional blood sample will be limited to one 70ml sample at any time over the 5 year period if the participant’s genotype was of investigational interest.
