Research summary
Retinoschisis is a term to describe the pathological splitting of the retina, which is the manifestation of various conditions, including inherited, mechanical and degenerative disorders.
Since the development of new imaging modalities, we have gained greater insight into the anatomical characteristics of these conditions. It is anticipated that more detailed classification of these disorders could lead to better understanding of the natural history and optimisation of management.
In this study we aim to analyse both historical anatomical and functional data, gathered from a large patient cohort as part of normal care, to establish a greater understanding of the natural course of disease and to identify any factors that may provide useful markers for guiding prognosis and management.
