Research summary
The study aims to explore the priorities for follow up care of seldom heard groups previously treated for bowel cancer. There is a lot of evidence about what people want from their follow up care after bowel cancer but certain groups are often listed as not having been included in the study either because they did not want to take part or because the study did not have the resources to include them (1,2). Some of the groups often excluded are minority ethnic groups, non-native language speakers and recent migrants (defined for the purposes of this study as seldom heard). 2 NHS sites in London and the South East will be invited to participate in the study and 1 NHS site in the Midlands. The national charity Bowel Cancer UK will put out a tweet about the study via their twitter account to invite participants. Participants will be asked semi structured interview questions that asks them to tell their story and tell the researcher about their priorities for follow up care. The interview will last approximately 30 minutes. Themes will be identified and published so that the seldom heard groups in the study are given a voice about what they want from follow up.
