Research summary
Study will involve one or two focus groups of up to 8 members. Members will be invited to attend the group/s when they have completed a questionnaire which is part of a service review of the Weight Management Service and not part of this research. Themes for discussion within the focus group/s will be generated from this questionnaire data. The group/s will take place at the Hospital and will last for a maximum of an hour and a half each. Members will have progressed through the Weight Management Service pathway and have been assessed as suitable for, and will be awaiting, bariatric surgery. An analysis will be done of the themes arising from the group discussion. The aim will be to get a view of the patient's experiences in order to evaluate and adjust the Service provision if necessary. The researcher is independent of the Hospital and it is hoped that this will free members to speak openly. The results will be written up as a small-scale service evaluation which is a requirement for the Doctorate in Clinical Practice awarded by the University of Exeter.
