Research summary
Summary of research
Fast field cycling MRI (FFC-MRI) is a new type of MRI scanning that provides unique images and information on tissue not currently available with other techniques. We wish as part of the Identify project to carry out a pilot project studying the knees of patients with osteoarthritis undergoing knee replacement to look at early changes in the protein concentrations in the articular cartilage associated with disease.Summary of Results
This study terminated early. Five participants were consented in early 2020. Unfortunately they never started any study procedures as the FFC-MRI scanner was shut down due to COVID-19. These patients have since had their surgery and are now ineligible to take part, as we wanted to scan them pre-surgery. There have been various delays due to COVID and the funding from the grant supporting this study has now ended. The CI has also retired, so it was decided that this study should be closed. There are no results to share or publish.REC name
