Research summary
This study seeks to determine the factors that help or hinder implementation of national policy (guidance) in a single hospital with a specific focus on learning from deaths. Primary data will be collected using semi-structured interviews with to 8 senior staff who either lead or directly / indirectly influence the learning from deaths agenda within the organisation.
This research will be undertaken through an exploratory case study with the aim to use this as a way of recommending further research and generating new hypotheses about what could be done differently in the future. Grounded theory methodology will be used and therefore the absence of assumptions or judgements regarding the organisation's achievements. Rather, the information collected will add to the body of knowledge that exists about implementation of national guidance.
