Research summary
Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) is the most common inherited kidney disease characterised by slowly progressive cyst development and growth leading to kidney failure which occurs in 50% by the sixth decade. ADPKD is a multisystem disease with liver cysts being the commonest extra renal manifestation. The clinical impact of liver cysts is poorly understood, although recent observational studies have unveiled a significant burden of disease associated with liver involvement. This needs to be determined to enable provision of services to support patients.
The purpose of this study is to identify the extent and impact of liver cyst involvement in patients with ADPKD using existing clinical, biochemical and imaging data. The burden of symptoms and effect of living with the condition will be ascertained.REC name
