Research summary
The impact of SLE amongst patients of South Asian (SA) origin is particularly marked. At present, evidence of how SLE affects SA patients specifically is limited. Therefore we intend to conduct in-depth interviews with SA patients to understand how SLE affects their employment, and to explore support mechanisms that could assist them with staying in work. \nAims: To improve our understanding around the impact of SLE on working lives of South Asian patients. To identify and develop support mechanisms that could assist them with remaining productively in work. \n\nWe will undertake a qualitative study to explore the wide perspectives of SA patients in relation to the impact of having SLE on their working lives of both female and male patients living with SLE. Patients attending the SLE outpatient clinic at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust will be recruited. \n\nDesign: An explorative qualitative study. \n
