Research summary
The aim of this study is to understand how health care workers make decisions about attending their workplace when they are unwell, in the context of the current COVID19 pandemic. In NHS Grampian we have been recording information for staff on when their symptoms started and when they stopped going into work and significant number seem to be working when unwell. The outcome of this piece of work will be to generate information about the reasons this happens that informs communication and support services so that staff are better able to remain away from work when they are unwell.\n\nResearchers will phone all NHS Grampian and care home staff who have tested positive and agree to this further contact while speaking to routine contact tracers. Participants will be asked about what influenced their decisions around going into work when they were unwell. This will include an exploration of risk points for the virus during their working days and their understanding of when they can return to work. They will be asked about how systems can better support staff to stop going in to work when unwell.\n
