Research summary
This is a qualitative study, investigating the lived experiences of older people who are aging with HIV, how this affects their quality of life, and their care needs. The study will use semi-structured interviews with older men living with HIV to gather data (at present, funding and time restraints mean we are only including men, in future we hope to secure more funding to also include women). It is envisioned that inductive thematic analysis will be used for data analysis. We will recruit approx. 12 – 20 men. The study also includes interviews with HIV clinicians, to understand their care priorities when looking after this patient group, so that we can investigate their priorities, and see if there are differences between clinicians' and patients' priorities. We will recruit between 6 – 10 clinicians, and also plan to use inductive thematic analysis to analyse this data. It is hoped that the findings of this study can be used to shape service adaptations/redesign.
