Research summary
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many sarcoma patients were rapidly moved to a telemedical model of care. Telemedicine here is defined as any medical consultation which is not performed face-to-face. Due to it's rapid implementation, telemedicine appears to be implemented inconsistently across the UK. The aim of this study is therefore to determine changes in models of patient – professional consultations for the post-treatment and follow-up oral chemotherapy of sarcomas, and explore patient and professional perceptions and preferences for the future delivery of care. This will be done via interviews and subsequent framework analysis, where recommendations for future care models will be provided. Research will be conducted by colleagues at the University of Strathclyde, Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and the Royal Marsden Hospital. 30 interviews with patients and professionals will be conducted, or until saturation.
