  • Research summary

The purpose of this study is to explore whether the use of gaming (such as Nintendo Wii) for rehabilitation of the hand and arm following stroke is acceptable to stroke survivors and to capture their experience of this. Stroke survivors who have had the opportunity to use gaming during their rehabilitation for their hand and arm will be interviewed. Stroke survivors who have decided not to use gaming as part of their rehabilitation will also be interviewed. At present limited research is available on how acceptable gaming is as part of rehabilitation. Knowing if stroke survivors think gaming is acceptable is essential information if it is to be used successfully in practice. Stroke survivor feedback on their experience of using gaming will also help inform the development of future rehabilitation programmes and clinical studies.
