Research summary
New ways of detecting ovarian cancer at early, curable stages is needed urgently. Breath testing is a promising and convenient means of diagnosis in several other caners, and emerging evidence suggests it may be useful in ovarian cancer. Eventually, we aim to test this hypothesis by comparing the breath of women with benign and malignant ovarian masses with healthy volunteers, using analytical chemistry techniques. The application for a pilot study to test the feasibility of this approach and gain some early data with which to inform a definitive parent study.
