  • Research summary

    The evaluation proposed in this protocol aims to investigate the experiences of patients, pharmacists, pharmacy employers and commissioners of the Sheffield Primary Care Pharmacy Programme (PCPP). Specifically, we aim to understand how the PCPP affected the nature and potential of the patient-pharmacist relationship and the ways in which community pharmacist expertise supported general practice prescribing. To accomplish our aims we will:

    a)Conduct semi-structured qualitative interviews with patients (telephone), community pharmacists involved in the PCPP, community pharmacy employers, and commissioners (telephone and face-to-face);

    b)Conduct a cross-sectional survey of community pharmacists involved in the PCPP;

    c)Do secondary analysis of anonymised service provision data.
