Research summary
This study will involve the analysis of patient safety incident reports from primary optometric care in Wales, as part of a new reporting system. It aims to determine the nature of incidents, including any incidents relating to COVID-19, in order to facilitate learning from the incidents that have been reported in practice. This will allow for the identification of potential areas for intervention to improve the quality of care being delivered. It will be the first research done involving incidents in primary eye care in Wales and the first to identify the impact COVID-19 has had on patient safety, which will inform further guidance to practitioners.
