Research summary
Approximately 40-60% of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) have memory problems with negative consequences for both patients and carers. Expert opinions recommend the need for cognitive rehabilitation in people with MS. However, previous research in the field of memory rehabilitation for people with MS is inconclusive and of poor quality. There is good evidence to support the use of NeuroPage, a memory aid service, in people with acquired brain injury. The aim of the proposed study is to evaluate the effectiveness of ’NeuroText’, provided by the NeuroPage service, for people with MS who have memory problems.
The study will be a randomised controlled crossover trial to evaluate the effectiveness of NeuroText on everyday memory problems. The study will capture participants’ perspectives and experiences of using NeuroText during qualitative interviews. This will inform the design of future randomised trials of memory rehabilitation for people with MS.
Feedback interviews will capture participants’ perspectives and experiences, and will inform further improvements of the programme.
