  • Research summary

The aim of this study is to compare different noise reduction algorithms and determine their effectiveness at improving intelligibility and quality for speech in noise signals. We will be testing four different algorithms using a speech in noise test. The test will require participants to listen to a series of sentence lists for each algorithm (with different signal-to-noise ratios) and one set for the control condition, and simply repeat back what they hear. These sentence lists will be presented through supra-aural headphones attached to a laptop, both of which we will provide fully calibrated. Following testing, a couple of questions will be asked to determine what the participant thought subjectively about the quality of the speech.
